Name: Kathleen Virginia McNamara Davis - as a kid I always knew how much trouble I was in by how many of the original three names my Mom used when she called me.
Location: Currently Bellflower, CA moving to Waldport, OR in January 2007
Married: Just celebrated our 33rd anniversary. Michael is the love of my life and spoils me rotten
Children or pets: One spoiled rotten 14 year old Lakeland Terrier named Easy Tempo
Occupation: Bookkeeper for a privately owned manufacturing company. Been there 25 years but counting the days until 12/21/07 when I quit to move!
Hobbies outside of collecting: Tinkering with my website. Decided I wanted to teach myself html to see if I could do it. Kinda took on a life of it's own from there. Update it after every race.
What you like best about nuts: The relaxed atmosphere. No long list of rules to abide by - just friends trading cards and swapping stories. Folks who find a card you are hunting and point you to it.
Favorite driver past and present: Well I guess Terry Labonte counts as past now. Picked him back in 1995 as my favorite and stuck to him. Me and a fellow at work each picked a driver to root for Ð he took Jeff Gordon. Bobby Labonte is my favorite current driver. I picked to him after the race where he wrecked, climbed out of the car, kicked the tire and threw his helmet at the car. Then kinda slid down the car and sat on the track. That just ticked me and Labontebrothersfan was born.
Favorite race: I guess it would be the Bristol Night Race. Can't beat a short track under the lights.
Most memorable racing moment: Terry Labonte winning the last Labor Day Southern 500
What got you into racing: I've always liked speed. I use to watch speed boat racing. I'd catch a race on TV every now and then in the 80's. We got cable TV in 1993 and I started watching pretty regular. By 1994 I was watching every race and collecting stats.
What got you into collecting: One day I just decided I wanted to collect trading cards. Thought they would be a cool way to see racing history. Had to do some searching to find a shop that carried them. Bought a bunch of pack of 1998 Maxx. Went back the next week & got more. Did that several times and still didn't have the set done. Probably would have given up but Michael told me about ebay! Found I could buy lots of set cheap. I was hooked.
How long collecting: Since the summer of 1998
What/who do you collect: Started out as strictly a set builder. Branched out to collect Bobby Labonte, Terry Labonte, Carl Edwards, Danny O'Quinn and Dale Earnhardt for Michael.
Breif summary of your collection: WOW - I never stopped & counted before! Didn't realize I had so much stuff - I think this is about right
464 different sets 1983 to current
298 Autographs of 137 different drivers/owners/crew chiefs
232 Race Used mostly Bobby, Terry & Carl
3 KingCod cards
1,179 Dale Earnhardt Cards
198 Carl Edwards Cards
1,364 Bobby Labonte Cards
1,132 Terry Labonte Cards
22 Danny O'Quinn Cards
Favorite card: That is a really tough one - I don't think I have a particular favorite. Guess it would be my 2004 Press Pass Eclipse Under Cover Signature Series #9/18 Bobby Labonte UC-BL. Got it through a trade with Card Pimp Chris when I only knew him as Chris Nelson.
Something we would never guess about you: I'm dangerous with a gun. Back in the mid-eighties and early ninties I use to compete in combat pistol competitions. Started out with a Colt 45 Auto then Michael had a Colt 38 Super Auto built for me. Had all the "gear" pistol belt, holsters, magazines and magazine holders. Had to fast draw, run to shooting positions, shoot, shoot from behind cover and so on. Even won a couple trophies!
Final statement: I've been on NUTS from it's beginnings. I'm on here in the morning while eating breakfast, lunchtime at work and after dinner. NUTS is so much more friendly than the "other" trading forums. I love the fact that folks here send cards to fellow collectors just cause they have them and somebody needs then - and expect nothing in return. It's a place to come to share triumphs and tragedies. To show off a new prized possession or brag on the birth of a child. Thanks to everyone here for making this place AWESOME.
