Each base card also has its parrallel versions in hobby and retail.
The inserts this year are similar to years past. First we have the Tradin paint insert. There are 9 cards in thi set and feature some of the different paint schemes of 2010.
Next is the Flashback 12 card set. It is another foil based set with the driver photo on front. The back has a flashback of some event or events in the drivers history.
The insert set I found the most interesting was the winning ticket. There are 62 cards in this set with some being short printed. This insert has not been done before and its unique size and look is a great addition to the press pass release.
Making its second year appearance are the NASCAR HOF cards. This years cards have a different color. Also there will be fewer cards this year. Each of the new members will have five cards released in a different product. For 2011 Press Pass tha driver is Bobby Allison.
As always this release have a couple of exclusive items in it. One of these is the 0 card which features the 12 cup contenders on a foil based card.
The other is the interactive cup chase cards. Each box contains one chance at wiining a special set and if you match the winning champion a race used card at the end of the season.
There is one guaranteed HIT per box of a memorbilia piece. Every third box also pulls an autograph. We were not so fortunate but did pull two nice cards of top drivers.
This set to me has always been a good one to open with the kids. The photographs have a lot of things to discuss and gives them plenty of chances at their favorite drivers. Its not loaded with "HITS" but has a lot of different things going for it.
I would love to see the inserts like flashback and tradin paint go away. First of all there isnt a need to have an insert set and a race used set sharing the same name. Also their looks are nothing new. Graphics might change but its still the same card every time. Last years by the numbers set and this years winning ticket are great. I would much rather have received more winning tickets than to have either of the other two inserts.
I am glad to see the continuation of the HOF series and hope they continue with this each year. Shrinking the numbers this year was a wise decision.
The hits look great but the thickness can be a pain for those of us that keep our cards in nine pocket pages. They will fit but its tight.
Although we didnt receive an autograph I have seen them and they look spectacular.
The cup chase cards should have the silver coating [like a lottery ticket] over the redemption number. This would help protect the collectors from someone redeeming the card and then selling it.
Making a master set of this release will take work. With two boxes we were not able to make one base set. That will drive some people looney but it should give the set more value.
I give this set a B+, I think it needs another hit to be an A. This would be a great release to issue some never before released autographs of truck and Nationwide drivers.
