We were fortunate to receive two boxes of this product to break and review.
The first thing I noticed with this product is the photography. The photographs are bright with a simple non photo shop look. I enjoy these photos because they appear to take you behind the scenes of a NASCAR race. One of the themes in the base set is called Battle Scars. These cards feature accidents that have taken place this year. Included is the NASCAR officials inspecting the catch fence where Carl hit at Talladega.
The base set is numbered 120-218 plus a checklist. Included in each pack is a gold parallel [HOBBY].
We received a full set out of each box which is great, especially considering the number of gold cards.
There were 60 gold parallels, the strange thing about this is they actually seem to have a higher duplicate rate than the base cards.
The insert sets are Gallery, Game face and pocket portraits.
Gallery is 12 card set that features the driver in uniform holding their helmet. The background is a simple design with coloring that flatters the uniform. These are an excellent looking card with a brief statement on the driver. We received four out of each box which means you will have to trade or buy to get a complete set.
Game face is a foil looking card that has a picture of the drivers face twice. One is small and in color the other is a big background shot. This is only a 9 card set and yet we pulled just two. I would have preferred this set to be saved for a later product and put more of the gallery in a box.
Pocket Portraits are an insert that when first announced I thought we would be better off without. We are not baseball and tobacco cards mean almost nothing to most of us. However when I pulled the first one I knew I was wrong. These cards are great. They have a different look and are cute [my daughters words]. Not only that they have variations 6 to be exact. There was not a complete set in either box but between the two did make 1 1/2 sets. Our Carl Edwards had 3 of the variations.

We received 3 numbered parallels in each box. These are always fun to chase and trade. I wish they would go back to numbering these cards different. I missed two of ours twice.
The big hit in each box was a one color swatch. The first being Jeff Gordon followed by Joey Lagano.
I am not alone in hoping these become the preferred size for race used. There is plenty of room for autographs and beautiful patches. We have all seen by now the tony Stewart and Kyle Busch patches that fill the space on these cards.
This set isn't for everyone; There is only one guaranteed memorabilia card per box. However if you enjoy collecting sets this one gives you a complete set plus nice inserts. As a bonus you get a really nice race used/autograph card.
I would give this set a B+. You receive everything your supposed to but there isn't the OOMPH factor that makes you just fall in love with it. I would propose that this set be released prior to stealth next year. That way you are not disappointed with only one hit.
